WHAT YOU WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHING

The spring flower phenomenon from the West Coast to Namaqualand is one of the natural wonders of the world. A day trip to the West Coast National Park is like stepping into an enchanted wonderland as the barren land is transformed into a carpet of rich flower colour.

You will be taken 100km north of Cape Town on a journey that is no less spectacular then the destination. You will have an opportunity to get the beautiful postcard shot of Table Mountain before moving on through picturesque rural farmland, into the town of Darling and on to the West Coast National Park.

The National Park itself was proclaimed not only to protect the richness of it flowers but also the associated animal and marine life. There are birds, antelope and ostrich to be seen and the langebaan lagoon is a beautiful ice blue water body that is the perfect with its rocks formations, birds and shore for photography.

The highlight for nature and landscape photographers though is the Postberg Section which is only open August & September. This area is phenomenal with its carpets of flowers, amazing rock formations and animals such as springbuck, mountain zebra, ostrich, eland and wildebeest.

PHOTOGRAHIC TIP- For the passionate outdoor photographer we recommend bringing a Polarise filter to saturate colours, a wide angle to capture the magnitude, a macro for close ups and a telephoto for the birds and wildlife.
